The British Council offer face-to-face English language courses in 80 teaching centres around the world and administer more than two million exams, including our IELTS test in more than 100 countries every year. We accredit 500 teaching centres in the UK. Our teaching and qualifications help people around the world improve their education and career prospects.

We provide professional development and networking opportunities for teachers and young professionals through three-year English language initiatives in India, China, the Middle East and North Africa. We also work with governments and ministries to develop English language skills and conduct research into the importance of English language skills for developing countries.
